I do not treat GEO as a replacement for SEO. Most businesses still need the technical, content and authority foundations of search visibility before chasing a separate AI tactic.

What SEO still does

SEO covers crawlability, indexation, search intent, page quality, internal linking, authority, local visibility and measurement. It is still the foundation for being found through Google and other search engines.

What GEO adds

GEO pays closer attention to answer-ready content, entity clarity, source quality, explicit expertise and the external signals that help AI systems understand who or what should be cited.

The strongest work overlaps

A clear service page, useful article, consistent author identity, strong structured data and relevant external mentions can support both classic search visibility and AI visibility.

What I would prioritise first

  1. Fix technical crawl and indexation issues.
  2. Clarify the brand, services and target market.
  3. Publish content that answers real customer questions.
  4. Build relevant authority and mentions.
  5. Measure Google performance and test strategic AI use cases.
