SEO is not one service. A local business, a B2B company and an e-commerce marketplace can all need SEO for completely different reasons.

Start by defining the business problem

Do you need more local calls, qualified B2B leads, e-commerce revenue, a technical recovery or a multilingual expansion? The answer determines what expertise matters most.

Ask how priorities are chosen

A useful consultant should be able to explain the sequence: diagnosis, technical fixes, page strategy, content, internal linking, authority and measurement. Not every project needs every tactic at the same time.

Ask who will implement changes and how the consultant works with developers, writers or internal teams.

Look for relevant evidence

Relevant evidence can be a case, a before/after analysis, Search Console reasoning, a technical example or a clear explanation of trade-offs. A huge traffic screenshot without context does not prove the consultant can solve your problem.

Red flags

  • Guaranteed first position.
  • Large backlink packages with no editorial logic.
  • No access to data or explanations.
  • Reporting that focuses only on rankings.
  • Publishing content without understanding the business.

For Moroccan companies, local market understanding, French/Arabic search behaviour and practical collaboration can be as important as the tool stack.
